We are certified to provide Dr. Paula Tallal's/Michael Mersenich's
Phonological/Language Processing programs that most of you have heard about.
These programs come from Scientific Learning Corporation. I (Denton
Kurtz) was fortunate to have been trained by Dr. Paula Tallal, one of the
major researchers whose work is the basis of the program. She was
wonderful. I learned a great deal. I believe that these "Direct
Neuron Training" (my words) Programs are the ground breaking programs for
brain training/cognitive development that will be commonplace in the next
25 years. One of the main purposes in bringing these programs to
the Kurtz Center was to find other ways to speed up our already successful,
but sometimes slow treatment approaches to phonological/phonemic awareness
and sight memory approaches to reading - e.g. Master The Code and
Lindamood® , A.D.D.®, LiPS® * results.
They do that and a lot more. The results over the past several years
have been impressive.

The Kurtz Center personnel have become certified trainers in Interactive
Metronome®. We and our clients have been impressed by how well
this program trains Attention Focus, Rhythmicity and Sequencing. These
behaviors are necessary for accurate learning and memory. They also assist
reading processing speed and fluency, as well as Listening and Reading
Comprehension.
Several of those trained, have been athletes. They have reported
noticeable improvement in the precision of their moves, accuracy and other
components of their sport where excellent rhythm and attention are necessary.
