Course Description:
This course provides paraprofessionals & home school instructors with theoretical and practical knowledge regarding research based reading instruction.

Course Goal:
To provide paraprofessionals & home school instructors with an opportunity to gain practical understandings of research based reading instruction and to apply those understandings.

Objectives:

  • To learn the definition of research based reading instruction 
  • Understand, identify, and use systematic and explicit instructional models.
  • Gain basic knowledge of the parts of research based reading instruction.
  • Gain basic knowledge of different methods of instruction and a variety of reading programs
  • Effectively adapt teaching style & program parts to meet the needs of children in reading classes.
  • Become critical thinkers about research based instruction. 
  • To apply knowledge about research based reading instruction in interaction with students
