Extraordinary Testing |
| Extraordinary testing is needed
to pinpoint LD types or subtypes
Quite frequently people come to my office and ask that I review old testing information to determine exactly what their child's problem might be. I am happy to review the child's history and files, and if the necessary tests have been given in the recent past, there is no need for additional testing in those areas. The old testing information, however, is often not explicit enough for me to identify specific problems. This brings up the issue of re-testing: How much is necessary and why? Because there are specific subtypes of reading difficulty for which we have remediation, testing must be specific and recent. With exact diagnosis, an exact and successful individualized treatment plan can be developed. My Standard Battery is composed of the checklists, questionnaires, and many tests infrequently or never used in determining LD through a "discrepancy formula" method. ~Denton M.
